Big Bear Weather Report

With about 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s no wonder Big Bear remains a perennial favorite outdoor destination. Rain storms, and thank goodness, snowstorms, are much more frequent at these moist heights, but storm systems tend to roll through quickly. The overall temperature is mild. The warmest month, July, seldom sees temps above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The lowest recorded winter level was -25 F; not all that cold for a location so far above sea level. Still, rangers remind campers that freezing temperatures have been recorded every single month of the year, so wear layers and be prepared. These are the best national and local sources for current weather conditions.
National Weather Reports
Each of the national weather forecasters measures moisture in the air differently. Here are some of the better sources. National Weather Service - Forecast for Big Bear Lake

Local Source
Local is always better than national, so here is our favorite local source. Bens Weather - Local Guy Weather

When it comes to snowfall, the colder it is, the more snow you get from the same amount of water. On average, 1" of water = 1 foot of snow. When you're driving in winter, you must use precautions as the road conditions change quickly.  It may be nice and warm when you're at the bottom of the San Bernardino mountains yet icy and slippery when you get to the top.  It's a good idea to check several forecasts to make sure you're getting the big picture so you can pack your car accordingly.  You always want to carry your tire chains/cables when you come in winter.  Even though the roads may be clear, the property you stay out, or portions of the town may still be covered with snow from recent storms.  And... tire chains are a whole lot cheaper in a city where there is no snow... then where there is snow.
