Big Bear Ski Rental
There’s no way around it. The best place to rent or buy sports and outdoor equipment is locally, not from a chain or warehouse. People who run community outfitters not only know the region and the nuances of area conditions, they’re true experts; folks who enjoy playing the sports you’re interested in under real life conditions. What’s the best bait for trout in Big Bear Lake? What kind of golf ball is easiest to control at high altitudes? What kind of ski wax works best on sundrenched southern California snow? We haven’t the faintest idea, but several local outfitters will be happy to tell you. Need more reason to rent gear locally? Well, there’s the schlep factor. Why lug mountain bikes, poles, boards and skis any farther than you have to? And, of course if anything happens to break, you’re just minutes away from a quick replacement.
We’re very impressed with Big Bear Sporting Goods, particularly since the owner is an avid angler who writes a fishing column for the local paper when he’s not renting or selling winter and summer sports gear. And we love Alpine Sports Center for its high performance gear, (mountain bikes, snowboards), clothes and boots. Check back for more listings soon.
