Winter Sledding Fun for the Family

Sledding in Big Bear Big Bear is a fun place to bring the family even if they don't ski. There are several places that you can take the family to go sledding, or inner tubing, or even create that real "bob sled" experience. Sledding, the old fashion way means finding a hill, having a sled, and a lot of nerve, but sledding Big Bear style means that you can go to the Big Bear Play Area, use a saucer, inner tube or just about whatever you want and go whooosh down the hill. Parents... that means you too.

There are two places to go where the activities are coordinated and planned. Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain and Big Bear Snowplay. Both places groom their snow so when you're tubing, you are on a smooth glide, as tubing naturally in the forest means a lot of bumps. Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain has a moving sidewalk called the magic carpet which carries the riders uphill to the top of the mountain. That sure beats hiking. There are plenty of places for the "parents" to chill out too, although we would expect that you would want to take a couple of runs yourself.

When you check in to your room, ask the front desk about discount coupons for either, and you'll be able to make reservations. You'll want a reservation on a busy weekend for sure.
