Hourseback Riding in Big Bear

Because the region was a both a mining and tourist hotspot in the 19th century, many excellent trails and bridle paths weave through the mountains. There is only one facility renting horses, however, is the Baldwin Lake stables and petting zoos, where kids can experience close encounters of the cute kind. Experienced guides will lead you over the historic Pacific Crest Trail for on one hour, two hour, half day or sunset rides. They even suggest private guided tours for “special occasions.” Pop the question on a pony, perhaps?
Head along a wide variety of terrains, on several trails, all with spectacular vistas. These rides are geared to the experience of the rider so even a novice can climb aboard and "giddup"
While summer seems the way to go for a ride, you can also ride in the Winter.  Touring through the mountains when there is snow on the ground is a completely different experience, and offers the real feel of the old west.  Be sure to dress with warm clothes for this very memorable vacation activity. 


You might also want to consider a Pony Ride for the little buckaroos in your family, those who may not be able to handle even a trail ride.  It is a good introduction to being on and with a horse, and the stables take great pride in teaching the young 'uns how to handle a horse.

Everyone always wants a "good" horse.  Of course! The stables take pride in training their horses so that novice riders can feel comfortable out on the trail.  The selection of guides is equally careful chosen from local ranch hands who know how to give guests to Big Bear a good time.    You will learn good balance and communication-developing into a thinking and effective rider, always with your horse's best interest at heart.
