In addition to the appointments, the Mammoth Lakes Tourism Commission was expanded from seven commissioners to nine.The Mammoth Lakes Tourism Commission is an advisory commission responsible for promoting the economic well being of the community through the development of well-planned travel and tourism sales & marketing strategies. Ten applications were received after the Town of Mammoth Lakes posted the two vacant Tourism Commission positions. Stated Mark Bellinger, Visitors Bureau Director, "The Visitor Bureau and Town of Mammoth Lakes were extremely pleased to receive ten applications for two tourism commissioner vacancies. As a result of the wonderful diversity of expertise and experience by the ten applicants, it was decided to increase the tourism commission size from seven to nine." A primary goal in selecting members for the Mammoth Lakes Tourism Commission is to have broad representation from all business/tourism/hospitality aspects of the community. This goal has been accomplished with the recent expansion of the tourism commission. The tourism commission now has a member from the lodging industry, the restaurant and retail industry, technology/Internet marketing, transportation, attraction, meeting planning and concierge services, and the Chamber of Commerce. "The Visitors Bureau staff look forward to working with the 9 member commission to continue the ongoing brainstorming and sharing of ideas while always fine tuning our marketing efforts," says Bellinger. The four new tourism commissioners are: ·Mark Gonzales, experience in marketing and strategy for a range of software, hardware and services companies, as well as for advertising and investment firms. ·Jefferson Lanz, owner of City Concierge, with experience in marketing and business development. ·David Talsky, owner of Mammoth Mountaineering Supply, and soon to receive his BS degree from the University of California. ·Nicole Vanderslice, partner of Mammoth VIP Services, with business and marketing experience. They will join current tourism commissioners: ·Greg Alexander, local restaurateur, business owner and president of the Eastern Sierra Restaurant Association. ·Nancy Baker, Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce staff member and Mammoth Lakes Fishing Committee member. ·Rhonda Duggan, Tour and Travel Manager for the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and serves on the Mono County Arts Council. ·David Moss, U-Save Auto business owner and fly fishing guide. ·Paul Payne, General Manager and partner of the Sierra Nevada Rodeway Inn.
