27th Annual Snowfest

The 27th Annual Snowfest kicks off February 29 and runs through March 9. This 10-day celebration is jam-packed with events, including the Gar Woods’ Polar Bear Swim, Tahoe City and Kings Beach parades, Wacky Winter Bowling and the Tails by the Lake Doggie Agility Course. Squaw Valley USA – Don’t miss the 27th Annual Snowfest Opening Night Celebration and Fireworks Friday, February 29 at 6:30 p.m., featuring a torchlight parade, fireworks and opening parties. Squaw’s Just for Women Expert Clinic takes place Friday, February 29 through Sunday, March 2, and is tailored for “experts.” Squaw Valley USA’s top female instructors will teach the clinic that emphasizes technical skill. New this year to Snowfest is the Joe King Poker Tournament Friday, March 7, 7 p.m. at the Cal Neva in Crystal Bay. The Kings Beach-based North Tahoe Business Association will host this event. It’s a $100 buy in with prizes awarded to all finalists at the Championship Table. Participants are encouraged to “dress the part” of 1920s gamers. Kings Beach came to be in 1925 when Joe King allegedly acquired the land after an all night poker game.
