Mush, To Grandma's Through The Snow

Gliding through the snow with a pack of experienced of Alaskan huskies is another exhilarating way to experience the countryside and lake Tahoe. Wilderness Adventures takes mushing guests out on a variety of tours from the Resort at Squaw Creek (daily) and Sugar Bowl Ski Resort (by appointment). Eight to ten dogs pull custom-made sleds at five-to- seven miles per hour with stops for snow play, pictures and hot chocolate. Simply meeting the magnificent huskies is worth the excursion alone. Of more than 90 dogs, some are Iditarod champions and some come from local shelters. They thrive on a nutrient rich 5,000 calories per day and run an estimated 2,000 miles per season.
