Guess what? It finally started snowing again in Lake Tahoe! It was help from a lot of you who send us well wishes, videos and greetings to remind us that Ullr, the snow god sometimes does funky things in winter. You should see the video we got from one Eastern Sierra advocate.
But now that the temperatures dipped and the snow guns came out and boom, the slopes at all the resorts are full of fresh fluffy powder. In actuality there isn’t a whole lot of difference between manmade snow and snow from Mother Nature. Both go through the exact same thaw /re-freeze effect when skied on, and end up as part of the same snow pack.
The California drought has been a drag for everyone. Without rain or the snow pack, the summer is going to be hot and dry, and we know what that does to our forests. So you have to be extra careful when you’re outside. Thanks! Meanwhile, the report from every single resort is good on the conditions at the slopes. Not every run, at every place is open, but enough to have a great time. In fact, Debra from Colorado was visiting over Christmas and told us that we have more snow than they do, and that surprisingly, with the lack of the natural stuff, our slopes looked great and skied nicely. Actually she was a boarder and said that the terrain parks at Heavenly were exceptional. Here is the latest report from all the slopes on the north side
