Mammoth Lakes Bakeries
Who doesn't like their treats? We do in Mammoth. So much so, we have 2 candy stores, 1 ice cream shop and we just got a yogurt palace and have several bakeries. So what's your pleasure? While every restaurant serves desert, these establishments only serve dessert. Mammoth is known for Schat's Dutch Bakery but they aren't the only place.
Recently Mimi's Cookies opened up and if you're a cookie monster, this is where you're heading. Chocolate chips melting in brown sugar dough. Heaven! And if you're into pie, as I, you'll want to buzz down to Rock Creek to get one of Sue's Pies. Ask for boysenberry if she has it, otherwise take whatever you can as they are so good, they sell out before lunch. No joke. When in doubt, pop over to The Stove and asked for one of theirs. We had a pie tasting one day, and before lunch we had consumed French silk, cherry, boysenberry, and Dutch apple.
It's not a bakery, and not a candy store, but wouldn't you know it, even in winter, Ben & Jerry's is serving up those favorite
flavors from the guys in Vermont, like Fish Food or
Cherry Garcia. They do cakes, and even Hot Milk Shakes especially
timely when the storms are blowing. Sounds funny, but they are delicious.

At the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory you can get those fantastic fresh dipped apples smothered in chocolate chips, M&Ms, nuts, trail mix or go for the classy truffles filled with champagne. Chocolate is so big around here, there are two Rocky Mountains to make pounds of fresh chocolate fudge and treats. And you can watch through the windows. The long awaited arrival of the seasonal dipped apples covered in caramel and chocolate
chips is an event.
