5 Feet of Snow Blankets Mammoth Mountain

Just what the doctor ordered. Mammoth Mountain was hit with 5 feet of snow over the last few days. The blizzard came in on Friday night 1/23 and continued off and on for 4 days leaving a top layer of beautiful fluffy powder. The first few days were the infamous "sierra cement" as temperatures were quite warm, and you wouldn't even know in town there was a storm, but at the higher elevations, it came down in buckets. Then the temperatures dropped and fluffy powder started to fall. As of Tuesday 1/27, everything is open. The back bowls, the front faces, Hangmen's, the Paranoid Flats, Climax and the most spectacular of all was to watch the skiers come down the untouched, unrooed Dave's run. It was like a Warren Miller Video. Tuesday, the sun was out and the most amazing day. Take a look to see for yourself with our new Mammoth web cams.
