Fishing In Mammoth

Fishing in Mammoth is here. Mono County fishing season is from the last weekend in April to November 15. Opening weekend is a big deal in Mammoth and you are going to want to get your boat out on Crowley Lake at 5:30 AM to get the first catch and get the first prize from the first fishing derby. Yes, it is that time when fisherman and skiers co-exist. We call the day "Merry Fishmas". Every year the Department of Fish and Game fill the lakes with brown and rainbow trout which are native to Mammoth. The town also puts in 1000s of pounds of our home grown Alpers Trout so the lakes and streams in Mammoth are stocked, to make your fishing expedition exciting.
Mammoth Lakes has 6 big lakes that you can drive to, and several more that you can only hike to. The best way to see the special "out of the way" lakes is to hire a guide, which you can find in our guide section. If you're not inclined to sleep out in the cold under the stars, can we recommend some "glamping" our own version of Ma href="http://www.cityconcierge.com/reservations/mammoth.asp">Mammoth lodging. Have a great season and see you at the weigh station! Oh and remember our past history... It always snows on the Fishing Season opener! Good Luck
