Fishing Season Opens April 26
Yes, it is about that time again, when fisherman and skiers co-exist. The Mammoth Lake fishing season officially opens on April 24, but if you're really ready to put your pole in the water, you can find trout fishing season open now! Every year the Department of fish and game, along with Mammoth's own Alpers Trout Farm stock the rivers and streams in Mammoth to make your fishing expedition exciting. The Mammoth Lakes Fishing Association plans fish derbies all season long, and the Tourism and Recreation Department ends the season with their giant "TroutStock" Festival where they try and give away a $1,000,000 dollar prize for catching a lucky fish. Troutstock is always Labor Day Weekend in September so put it on your calendar for a "must do ". Mammoth Lakes have 6 big lakes that you can drive to, and several more that you can only hike to. The best way to see the special "out of the way" lakes is to hire a guide, which you can find in our guide section. Have a great season and see you at the weigh station!
