Labor Day Trout Fest and Art Festivals

Labor Day is full of events in Mammoth. Headed by the Convict Lake Trout Fest a family fun fishing derby at Convict Lake. The contest has a $3000 prize, and the $30 entry gets you the BBQ, Shirt, Cap and entry. There is a live band and it gets started on Saturday September 4 - 5. They also have the Ambush at the Lake contest with up to $6500 in prizes in October! You can
enter Trout Fest at Convict Lake And if you want to check out some of the great places to fish, visit the
Mammoth fishing section and be sure to follow the links for the stocking schedule and hideaways.
Also during Labor Day is the Mono County Arts Festival. The festival is held each year at Sam's Woodsite off of Minaret Road. There are tons of artists with booths filled with paintings, crafts, and hand made items. Many food vendors have booths as well, and it is a beautiful setting to stroll around. Very similar to the Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival... but smaller.
We always get asked, what is there to do in Mammoth on Labor Day... well the number one activity is fishing, followed by hiking and Mountain Biking with the Mammoth Bike Park being open until September 19, 2010 this year. Of course, relaxing is a key ingredient on Labor Day as you shouldn't "labor" so eat out. All the restaurants will be open so leave the cooking to them this time around. Check out the City Concierge Mammoth dining sections to get the most current list.
We have a lot of our lodging reduced for Labor Day and we have all kinds of special promotions when you stay 4 or more days... so if you can plan a little longer trip, you can take advantage of the free nights we offer.
