Summers in Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes fishing for families

Summers are the perfect time for a Mammoth Lakes Vacation. Filled with warm air and cool nights, Mammoth is loaded with things to do such as mountain biking, hiking, golf, tennis and fishing. Fishing is very popular in Mammoth as you can fish anywhere you can put your pole in the water. Summer temperatures are mild with warm days and cooler nights, and the days are not just for activities but for our events too. Mammoth is just an easy place to vacation and most people rent condos as they want a relaxed environmnet. The best however, is the time you'll spend outdoors hiking the trails which are... just endless.

For the golfers in the group, you will want to Golf at Sierra Star 18 holes beneath the pines. The ball flies further at 8,000 ft elevation. And if your're fishing you will want to check out the fishing hideaways away from the Mammoth Lakes Basin which is where most people end up... because they didn't know. The ski resort converts to a mountain bike park with the toughest rides you'll ever experience. Yes there are simple ones to, and you may want to ride the Panorama Gondola to the top for an awesome view of the entire Sierra region, as Mammoth is one of the highest points you can get to, without hiking.

This summer Mammoth Lakes lights up with many events to highlight specific weekends. Summer starts with our big Mammoth Motocross event from June 21-27. 4th of July is a big hometown celebration with fireworks, parades, music in the park and art festival. Our annual Jazz Jubilee is July 15-18 with Dixie Jazz and music from the South. The biggest music festival is the Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza August 6-8 and we have special tickets and lodging for the festival this year. Our newest music fest is the weekend of August 13-15 with a return of the Mammoth Wine Festival on August 17-19. And everything culminates with a giant Labor Day fish a thon at Convict Lake.

Visitors generally stay 5-7 days and during that time they take day trips to the Bodie Ghost Town, or do the day hikes to Devils Postpile and Rainbow Falls which is down in Reds Meadow. There are also some really great tours of the Geology of the Eastern Sierra and or the historic Inyo area. We currently have an audio tour guide available free for the asking.

When you're ready, we can help you plan where to stay and your activities. Our Mammoth rentals are fully equipped with everything you need, professionally managed for 24 /7 care and have the convenience of all the amenities you come to enjoy on your vacation. Some families prefer to have hotel reservations and we can help you with those as well. You'll find pages of things to do when you start reading and following links on our website. We can help you with anything you need.
