Mammoth fishing Vacations

Do you need a reason to Drive on Up? Here is a 6 pounder reason. Trout Season opened and the fish are being caught left and right. Convict Lake is a great place and is where this one was caught. Crowley is also a great place but if you want to know some secret places to throw your pole in, here they are. Our own secret fish hideaways. Mammoth Fishing

If you need a fish derby to get you motivated to get those anchovies on your line, here is the list of all the fish derbies posted thus far for the season. The biggest is our own Million Dollar Trout Stock weekend, which will be Labor Day and plans to be the biggest fishing event of them all.

If you have never had a personal fishing guide take you around, then you might want to give David Moss Fly ishing a ring. David is a long term Mammoth resident, and knows every nook and cranny in the Eastern Sierra. This makes Fly Fishing or learning to Fly Fish a lot more fun, than just showing up with your bait and hoping you will catch something. He takes folks around to the hot places where he knows fish are being caught. You could also do it our style, which is to follow behind the Trout Stock Trucks and hope that as the lakes are filled with trout, the little buggers are hungry and you can nab yourself a winner. This is a fabulous Father's Day Gift.... !

If you take pride in your fishing then you will want to know that "Brown Trout Teaser", "Nightcrawlers" and "Marshmallow" were the Trout taste treats that caught the biggest fish during the opener. Frankly, it all sounds like a food challenge on Fear Factor, but hey, whatever works!

Memorial Day
If you not thinking beach, then start thinking snow, fish, ski, board, mountain bike, dirt bike and hiking, as that is what is happening in Mammoth this long holiday weekend. It is one of those unusual times when almost all sports can get together and have some fun. Many of the condo complexes will have their pools up and running, and horses can be on the trails that are not still covered with snow. There is a ton of local events happening.

Music wise, there will be bands playing in all the local pubs. Whiskey Creek Mike told me to save his some space in the newsletter, say hi to him when you walk on in. There will be music all over town, you will see the complete list of activities at our site. The activities are listed here.

BIG EVENTS In JUNE
Mammoth Car ShowJune is the start of Event Season in Mammoth. The MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN MOTORSHOW comes to town on JUNE 17-19. This is one of the largest classic car shows that tours the United States There will be cars everywhere for you to enjoy, but you need to know what is happening

The very next weekend is for Motorcycle riders. If you like riding your hog, then you need to know about the MEAN MOUNTAIN RUN, which is the motorcycle run through the trails.
Mean Mountain Run - JUNE 24-26, 2005. There will be a poker run (I'm told that is like a scavenger hunt on wheels) which is not a run to Vegas, and BBQ and parties all weekend long. The details can be found here, and as this is the fifth year, the event continually grows in size.

Along with the Motorshow, the Motorcycle Run, comes our annual and now revived MOTORCROSS RACE WEEK June 16-25. This is an absolutely fabulous time for participants and spectators to be in Mammoth. In the past the dirt track has become so popular, that the event has had to limit the amount of entrants. This is a spectator sport like none other, with cyclists flying though the air. It is not too late to get yourself signed up. Here is the official schedule as reported on all the events.
