Snowboarding Started at Bear

Bear Mountain Snowboard tricks out the pipe 30 years ago it all started at Bear Mountain in Big Bear. The mountain has a deep history and has since become a haven for those wanting to come up for a weekend and fine tune their snowboarding. Southern California is an unusual combination of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding, all which you can do in the same day. It all began here and greats like Shaun White call Bear and Snow Summit their home mountains. Since 2010 Bear Mountain has been rated in the top ten snowboard terrain parks in the nation according to the Transworld Snowboarding Magazine “Best Park’s Resort Poll”, Bear Mountain prides itself on its constant maintenance and grooming keeping the terrain park always pushing the boundaries of resort riding by incorporating innovative features that challenge Olympic athletes as well as local riders.

1997 was the year the first “Winter X Games” took place at Big Bear which started the idea that Snowboarding could be included in the Winter Olympics. This year’s Olympics in Sochi, snowboarding, boarder cross, freestyle and slopeside events were the highlights of the games with teeth clenching tricks never before seen on the event circuit.

Grooming the Park, Grooming the Talent
